Nintendo has so far been optimistic about the Wii U, even if its sales haven't been quite as impressive as the Wii's were. But in a new financial forecast for 2013 the company reduced its predictions for Wii U console and software sales.

Nintendo had previously estimated it would sell 5.5 million Wii U consoles by the end of March (Q1), but now it's looking to just sell 4 million. Wii U game sale estimates dropped even more significantly from 24 million to 16 million units.

What do you think is to blame for the Wii U's floundering? We're quite fond of ours, particularly with ZombiU. Do you think the console is doomed, though, with Microsoft and Sony's next on the horizon?
