The Super Bowl delivered its fair share of disappointing commercials and movie trailers last night, but don’t count the spot for Star Trek into Darkness among them. Packed with action and drama, this short trailer made us full-blown believers that J.J. Abrams is looking to leave the Trek franchise in style.
And while the eye candy can’t be denied, we’re much more excited about Benedict Cumberbatch’s role as the movie’s villain after watching this. He might not be as colorful as some of the series’ more memorable baddies, but there is a creepy intensity on display here that reminds us of what Javier Bardem just pulled off in Skyfall.
