No disrespect to James Franco, but after his (fantastic) performance in Pineapple Express, it's kind of hard to take him seriously. But the Wizard of Oz prequel Oz the Great and Powerful makes the inner workings of Oz look pretty damn serious.
Oscar Diggs (Franco) is a Kansas magician who comes to the Emerald City way before Dorothy and her posse arrive (he becomes the wizard, duh). He meets three witches (Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Rachel Weisz) and has to "decide who is good and who is evil before it is too late."
Basically, the more we see of this movie, the more we're inclined to understand why Franco got an Oscar nomination for 127 Hours. Weisz debuted a new clip from the film the other night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Oz the Great and Powerful will be released March 8.
