Watch: Every Best Picture Winner in 4 Minutes

Beginning and ending with silent films.

Filmmaker Nelson Carvajal edited together clips from every Best Picture winner—that's 84 films in under four minutes.

The first winner was Wings in 1929, the story of two World War I fighter pilots starring Clara Bow and Gary Cooper in his breakthrough role. Carvajal doesn't alway pick the most memorable scene from a film, so some you might miss if you're not looking close, like Audrey Hepburn in her street-urchin garb in My Fair Lady. Others are unforgettable, like a teary-eyed Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca.

The supercut ends with last year's winner, The Artist, which was also a silent film, followed by clips of this year's nominees.

Also, it's really satisfying when you start recognizing the movies. Gone With the Wind was our first—so we've never seen Calvacade! Neither have you.
