Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has been chatty today, first teasing the next Assassin's Creed, and now telling IGN that he's confident Nintendo "will make the necessary changes to the [Wii U] to make sure that it continues to grow fast on the market." How confident? He said Ubisoft has a whole "pipeline" of Wii U games in development, beyond Rayman: Legends, "which makes fantastic use of what the machine can do," according to Guillemot.
"We have a pipeline of games of very high quality coming on that machine," he said.
He also commented on platform exclusivity in the upcoming generation:
"On the very big games you will see less platform exclusives happen in the future generation because of the potential, the possibilities of next-generation PCs and the next-generation of consoles will bring," he said. "That’s for the big games. For the smaller games, like you have on Xbox Live Arcade or PSN, you will probably still see some exclusive games."
What do you think of the future of the Wii U? Nintendo recently curbed its forecasts for hardware and software sales, but it could very much pick up, especially if Guillemot's prediction that Nintendo will continue its tradition of high-quality first-party games comes true.
