After a number of recent, high-profile subway shoving incidents, the NYPD has started tracking mental patients to avoid future incidents. Working with the Department on Health, the NYPD will use its real-time crime center to find subjects before sending officers. They've already composed a list of 25 potential targets who are considered "the most dangerous mental-health patients that currently have mental-hygiene warrants," and the plan is to use the real-time service center to track them down and arrest them.
The targets are already receiving treatment for mental illness, and the goal is to round up the ones who have reportedly stopped taking their medication before they hurt themselves or others.
