Georgetown Cupcake is all the rage in D.C., as evidenced by the line you see in the photo above. At the moment, they're going to have to deal with someone even more vigilant than rabid customers—Uncle Sam.

According to the Washington Business Journal, Georgetown Cupcakes owes the District of Columbia $189,282.71 in sales tax payments. Owners (and sisters) Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne were forced to lien back this week after neglecting to turn in sales tax collections for August through October of 2012.

An attorney for Georgetown Cupcake says that reports hit a "snag" and were submitted sans checks, but the debt should be paid off very soon. Georgetown Cupcake has opened five shops in D.C., Bethesda, MD, New York, Boston and Los Angeles since 2008, and a sixth in Atlanta is in development.
