A list of independents would be laughable if it didn't mention the "Queen of the Indies," Parker Posey. In Broken English, Posey plays Nora, a woman who doesn't really get the whole "love" and "romance" thing, but not for lack of effort.

Her mom's constantly setting her up with the wrong men, and her friend's blind dates are even worse. As Nora's peers get engaged and fall in love, she grows bitter. This, of course, all changes when she meets a handsome Frenchman.
