When millionaire Jason Calacanis, who sold a group of blogs to AOL for $25 million, responded to an essay by Jamelle Bouie about a "race wall" in tech journalism, Calacanis simply said, "there isn't a race wall in tech," completely ignoring the points Bouie, a respected writer, was making. After denying any type of race barrier that prevented writers of color from breaking into the tech business, Calacanis faced a lot of criticism from black and white writers, and responded with: "@anildash @postbourgie @jbouie you don't know my struggle from Brooklyn to the top.... You don't know 10% of it. I took mine!"
