Microsoft-owned Skype launched a new "Video Messaging" service in the U.S. and U.K. week that lets users send prerecorded messages to friends and family whether they're online or not.

Skype users can record up to three minutes of video and send 20 free messages before they'll have to pony up $4.99 per month for Skype Premium.

The "Send Video Message" feature is now accessible in contact menus for Mac (Version 6.2.0.1117), iOS and Android. A spokesperson told The Verge the option isn't available on Skype for Windows or Skype for Windows 8 just yet, but to expect an update (and availability in other countries) soon.
