Local authorities continue to warn pedestrians and straphangers to keep smartphones and mobile devices out of sight. This might be why.

On January 16, six teenage girls ran into a train station after allegedly being involved in a strong arm robbery nearby. The group of young women allegedly assaulted two women near a shopping center in Far Rockaway, Queens. The suspects stole one victim's iPhone and the other's iPod, according to the New York Times City Room Blog.

Footage was released this week showing the six jovial women running into the Beach 36th Street train station. Crime Stoppers are asking individuals with any information about the incident to come forward.
