J.J. Abrams has been very successful in his previous TV ventures. He created Alias, the show that made Jennifer Garner a star, and co-created Lost, Felicity, Fringe, and Person of Interest. His new show, Believe, is only one of two pilots he's working on this season.

It's written and directed by Abrams' co-creator Alfonso Cuaron (Y Tu Mamá También, Children of Men) and stars newcomer Johnny Sequoyah as "a young girl in possession of great powers and the man who is sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down." Jake McLaughlin (Savages) has been cast as the ex-con. Jamie Chung and Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil) also star. Chung, who has been playing Mulan on Once Upon a Time is a "strong, practical, and smart woman" who helps get McLaughlin out of prison.

Believe sounds pretty complicated (hello, this guy came up with Lost) but we have to admit we're intrigued.
