We were a little worried about James Van Der Beek's career after ABC unceremoniously canceled Don't Trust the B---- In Apt. 23, but luckily we were just being paranoid - looks like Dawson Leery's already got a new job! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Van Der Beek has signed on to star in a new CBS comedy called Friends With Better Lives, a series which follows the lives of a group of thirtysomething friends who each think the other has a better life than them.

He will play a character named Will Stokes, a gynecologist described as a "pessimistic," and "smart, sarcastic...cynical guy" who finds out his wife cheated on him with his therapist. Rough luck - which is great, because maybe we can expect another GIF-worthy crying scene!

Van Der Beek's former Don't Trust the B co-star Krysten Ritter was recently cast in a new comedy series as well. Now, someone hire Dreama Walker in another show, and we can call it three for three.
