High School Student Creates App for his Stanford Application

Want to get into Stanford? There's an app for that.

None

Stanford University is a breeding ground for Silicon Valley titans. It's widely known that outside of the Ivy League, this is the school to attend if you want to make it in the tech world. It's also known to be an extremely difficult college in which to get accepted.

So when high school senior Alex Greene applied to Stanford’s computer science program—which the Academic Ranking of World Universities ranked as best in the world—he created his very own app to stand out amongst his competition.

The app, simply named "Hello Stanford," is straightforward. It lists interests like snowboarding, mountain biking, and design, as well as why he thinks he should be accepted into the program. What better way to show off your skills than in a computer application for the computer program for which you are applying?

Stanford only accepted 6.6 percent of its applicants last year, so Greene still has some hurdles to jump over—but he is giving himself a good shot. Soon enough, he may be saying "hello" to Stanford in person.
