The 2006 world premiere of The Vertical Hour gave Julianne Moore her first leading Broadway role as Nadia. The play itself discussed opposing views on the 2003 war in Iraq, as Nadia was a supporter and a war correspondent before becoming a Yale professor. Critics loved her, saying she was understated and superb.
