The role of Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion is well known amongst the Broadway crowd to be one of the most difficult characters to play convincingly. Critics are often hardup to find one actress who has played her perfectly. However, Danes may have come close. She mastered two accents, the cockney and the prim and proper upper class English, with confidence.
