Big news for The Walking Dead. According to Vulture, AMC has found a new showrunner to replace Glen Mazzara, who was unceremoniously let go from the series last month. Stepping up to the role of executive producer and showrunner now for a multi-year deal now is reportedly Scott Gimple - current supervising producer and writer for the show.

So, who is Gimple? He's been on the series' staff since season two, and he's written about five episodes for the show since 2011. Some of his other work includes writing for dearly-departed shows Life and Flashforward, as well as penning the screenplay to Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. He also created the Disney animated series Fillmore! in 2002, and he's the writer of the Punisher: Nightmare comic.

According to insiders, Gimple will take the reigns of the series once Mazzara finishes post-production of the third season's second-half.
