With the entire District of Columbia preparing for the inauguration, nobody is ready to work harder than the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. On Monday afternoon, the agency released its inauguration schedule to further incite excitement and possibly anxiety.
On Inauguration Day, the Metro will open at 4 a.m. and will run on a rush schedule until 9 p.m. while applying rush hour fares. The "Rush+" service will be suspended, and Yellow Line trains will stop short due to events such as the inaugural balls. Two official Presidential Inaugural Committees parties will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, so Yellow Line trains will only operate between Huntington and Chinatown.
Both the Blue and Orange Line's Smithsonian station and Yellow Line's Archives-Navy Memorial will be closed. Metro suggests that the Judiciary Union Station, Capitol South and Federal Center SW stations (those closest to the US Capitol) only be used by passengers who have tickets to the swearing-in.
