19. Thandie Newton
Thandie (pronounced TAN-DEE) Newton is as graceful as they come, and it's no wonder—she began her career as a dancer. It was only due to a back injury that Newton began auditioning for films, but she soon had a role opposite Brad Pitt in Interview With a Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles. After that, she continued her rise up, landing a role in Crash, which won her a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Newton has also appeared on a very different kind of stage. In 2011, she gave a TED Talk about her multi-cultural background (her mother is from Zimbabwe) and how she had to accept her "otherness" in order to embrace herself.
