A send-up of pulpy detective stories, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang stars Robert Downey Jr. as a career thief who inadvertently stumbles into a movie audition, only to find himself cast as the star. To research the role, he begins to shadow a real private eye. And then they stumble upon a murder, and things really get frantic.

Downey's self-aware narration provides humorous distance for the madcap situations unfolding onscreen. It's postmodernism-lite, and a lot of fun.
