You've heard the rap game/crack game analogy, but it appears that moviemaking is now as dangerous as the corner too.
In a funny Kickstarter video designed to help fund post-production for Newlyweeds, writer/director Shaka King's Sundance Film Festival-bound comedy about "a love triangle between a repo man, his globetrotting girlfriend, and marijuana," the unfortunate filmmaker catches a permanent bad one for smoking and slacking on his responsibilities. Actors Gbenga Akinnagbe and Hassan Johnson, who played hit men Chris Partlow and Wee-Bey Brice respectively on HBO's acclaimed crime drama The Wire, show up as King's angry financiers ("I'm tryin' to make that Nigeria money!") and wrap production—literally, with a rug—when all he has for them is a blunt to pass.
Visit the Newlyweeds Kickstarter page to watch the video and to donate towards the cost of color correction, sound design, and a soundtrack for the film.
