It seems that the Nintendo Wii U has fallen on its own sword of tying game purchases to hardware purchases for their latest console.
Folks who purchase a second-hand Wii U are able to download the previous owner's digital titles for FREE. A NeoGAF user made the discovery after buying a pre-owned Wii U system, setting up a new Nintendo Network account, and being handed a ton of free shit.
"Whoever owned the console before me purchased multiple games, meaning all the games he purchased are available to re-download for free," he said. "This is with a new account I set up as well. Games are clearly linked to console itself.
"Advice to those buying a second hand Wii U ... check all the games on the Store ... you might be in for some 'free' games!"
Wow. Maybe this will be just the thing to get the Wii U moving units. After Nintendo announced that it was putting in place excessive DRM controls for transferring Wii titles to the Wii U console, it seems ironic that they've overlooked this massive loophole. If you own a second-hand system, double check your console, you may have just been handed a whole new game library.
