A 40-year-old man was shot in the chest by the NYPD for allegedly threatening to stab a woman with a pair of scissors. According to the NYPD, a woman flagged police down in the street. Once inside of the building, an officer found the man holding a pair of scissors to his own throat. Next, the man threw the woman to the ground and "threatened to stab her with the scissors."
The 25-year-old officer fired his weapon twice, "stopping [the man's] advance." The suspect is in critical condition at King's County Hospital, and the officer was treated for tinnitus at Methodist Hospital. The woman was not injured.
