NYC Bus Strike Horror: Brooklyn Mother's 4 Children Attend 4 Different Schools

American horror story.

The New York City school bus strike has entered it's second day, which means Tameka Carter's nightmare continues. Carter, a single mother from Crown Heights, Brooklyn, has four children who attend four different schools in neighborhoods from Downtown Brooklyn to East New York. Three of her children require door-to-door service because they have special needs.

Speaking with the New York Post, Carter detailed her struggle. “I have to debate who I want to send, who needs to go more, because it’s going to be hard to get them to school,” she said. Carter has even considered keeping her children home.

The website for the Department of Education said that there was a slight chance that two of her children's buses would be in operation, but it depended on a variety of factors, such as whether or not nonunion drivers would have access to bus depots.
