Michelle Monaghan is headed to HBO. According to Deadline, the Eagle Eye actress is set to star opposite Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as the female lead in the upcoming drama True Detective. The series will consist of eight episodes, and is being described as a "elevated serial narrative with multiple perspectives and time frames" that follows two detectives - Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson) - who both carry out a search for a serial killer in Louisiana for 17 years.

Episodes will go back and forth between the investigation of the murder in 1995 to the detectives' testimony in 2012 when the case is reopened. Monaghan will portray Martin Hart's wife, Maggie, who is apparently forced to make a decision that has "long-reaching and devastating consequences."

The series, which was written by Nic Pizzolatto, will be directed by Jane Eyre's Cary Fukunaga.
