Major League Gaming announced yesterday that Black Ops 2 and League of Legends will join the 2013 Winter Season of the league's 10th annual Pro Circuit. The Winter Championship will take place from March 15-17. Call of Duty competitor passes will go on sale Jan. 29, while information for hopeful LoL competitors will be announced soon.

Perhaps more importantly, MLG today announced a partnership with Sony that will see Planetside 2, the massively multiplayer online first-person shooter sequel, folded into the eSports community like never before. Here's an excerpt from the press release we received this morning:

Over the next few months, the PlanetSide 2 and MLG teams will work closely to develop ideal competitive gameplay features and settings to showcase the massively multiplayer online first-person shooter (MMOFPS). With MLG’s consult and significant community involvement, [Sony Online Entertainment] has committed to creating a long-term eSports initiative within PlanetSide 2 that will highlight an exceptional massively multiplayer competitive gaming experience.

MLG and Sony will also collaborate on PlanetSide 2 original programming, GameBattles competitions in PlanetSide 2, and PlanetSide 2 gaming stations to be featured at the Winter Championship in Dallas.

The MMOFPS's battles are appropriately massive, with thousands of players competing at once. Can you think of any good ways for PlanetSide 2 to be included in MLG's events?
