HTC had a rough fiscal year in 2012, but no one has ever doubted the Taiwanese company's ability to turn out top-tier phones. Last year its slate of well-received handsets included the One series, the Droid DNA and the 8X for Windows Phone. In 2013, HTC is preparing to step things up even further with a new flagship device rumored to make an appearance at CES next week.

The phone, codenamed M7, is said to boast a 13 megapixel rear camera, 2 GB of RAM, a 1.7 ghz quadcore processor and a 4.7-inch full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel display. Expect full HD to be the must-have spec for smartphones this year. It will also reportedly abandon physical menu buttons for on-screen controls.

More on the M7 as details emerge.
