This weekend welcomes the 5th Annual 8th Wonder James Brown Tribute Party. Organized by Hot Peas & Butta, the party will celebrate the music of the one and only Godfather of Soul.
Joining Hot Peas & Butta's Skeme Richards and Kamui Sumida will be veteran DJs Cosmo Baker and Monk One. All four will spin original tunes and songs that sample Brown and The JBs, Bobby Byrd, Marva Whitney and Lyn Collins just to name a few. Oh, and because this is a Hot Peas & Butta event, rare footage of Brown will be screened all night long.
The party will run from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. at The Gallery at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker St.). It's free for ladies until midnight, and $5 after. Guys should RSVP at info@hotpeasandbutta.com for free entry until midnight, because it's $10 after that.
The collective has a history of dope events, and this one should be no different.
