Less than a month after a federal judge ordered the end of the "stop and frisk" program in sections of the Bronx, she's come back and said that it can resume for the moment because suspending it would be an inconvenience for the NYPD.
According to the New York Daily News, Manhattan Federal Court Judge Shira Scheindlin lifted the ban on the controversial program on Tuesday. Apparently, she agreed with city lawyers who argued that a sudden end of the NYPD's "Clean Halls" initiative would be problematic for the department, all because it would force the NYPD to notify and train thousands of officers and supervisors all over again.
The order has only been lifted for a few months, but is it really that much of a hassle to tell people to stop doing something? There isn't a whole lot to process.
