Atlus has announced that Demon's Souls, the award-winning predecessor to Dark Souls, will be released digitally on the PlayStation Network store on Jan. 8. If you haven't played Demon's Souls yet, cancel work and school next week and take a second holiday to play it. It's totally worth it.
We're guessing that means that the game's multiplayer servers—an integral function—will remain on for a while yet.
As a bonus to any new or returning players, each of Demon's Souls' five worlds will be set to "pure white world tendency" from Jan. 8 to Jan. 14. For those who don't know, that means that combat will be easier and more healing items will be available, though enemies will drop fewer upgrade stones. In addition, certain story elements and NPCs will only appear during pure white tendency. Pure white is difficult to achieve, especially across all five worlds at once (as is pure black, which is a whole different story).
If that didn't make any sense, just know that you should play this game next week. It'll be available for $19.99 starting Jan. 8.
