Company Developing Smartphone Chip for iPhone to Identify Tastes and Smells

In a recent interview with Business Insider, founder and CEO of Adamant Technologies Sam Khamis announced that his company has developed a processor for the iPhone which "can take the sense of smell and taste and digitize them." With chips already in production, the product which has reportedly 5x more sensors to identify smell than the human nose and should be available within the next year or two.

The product is expected to be in the form of a plug in for the iPhone that will support a variety of apps. One of which being a way to determine the freshness of someone's mouth. 

"Halitosis, or bad breath tracking, is something we're really interested in," Khamis said, adding that the app will notifying users of bad breath and indicate what caused the condition. Other planned apps will test blood sugar for diabetics and measure blood-alcohol levels.
