Becoming a policeman in Chicago sounds like hard work, but some of them definitely reap the financial benefits. In fact, a few of them make more than the average Joe in overtime pay alone. In a report by the Inspector General of Chicago, there's a section that shows how much overtime was paid out to city employees in 2012.
For example, a police communications operator for Chicago's Office of Emergency Management and Communication makes $77,784 in salary, but also pulled in $91,116 in overtime. That adds up to just under $169,000, which is nearly $1,000 more than his or her boss made last year.
There were 26 employees who made more than $50,000 in OT last year, and 223 who made more than $30,000. Below, you'll find the remaining nine of the 10 employees who made the most in overtime last year:
