In what's quite possibly one of the year's strangest—and best—stories, the sheriff's department in Alameda County, CA were in the midst of a "probation compliance" check at a Castro Valley home when they found a five-foot alligator guarding marijuana.

The alligator, named "Mr. Teeth," was guarding 34 pounds of marijuana from a Plexiglass tankSheriff Sgt. J.D. Nelson was understandably shocked by the discovery. "We come across guard dogs like pit bulls quite frequently, but a guard alligator is very very unusual," he said.

Here's the best part of the story: Assif Mayr purchased Mr. Teeth back in 1996 "to commemorate the death of rapper Tupac Shakur." Mayr was taken to Santa Rita jail and detained on $160,000 bond, while Mr. Teeth was taken to the Oakland Zoo.

Picture him rollin' to jail and explaining his arrest. We're sure the sheriff's department had quite the laugh.
