Public advocate Bill de Blasio announced that he was running for mayor on Sunday during a press conference in front of his home in Park Slope. He has quite the resume; he's been involved in government since the Dinkins administration, has worked as a housing administrator, managed Hilary Clinton's Senate campaign in 2000 and served two terms on City Council.

However, his accomplishments and announcement were not the talk of the press conference. It was his son's hair.

Mr. de Blasio's 15-year-old son, Dante, rocks what the New York Daily News referred to as a "stupendous Afro." While it's not quite at Questlove's level of legendary, it's pretty impressive. Like, 1973 Jackson Five impressive.

Maybe it will win de Blasio supporters, and then maybe it won't. Regardless, it's given the people something to talk about.
