Are you looking forward to this?

It was reported previously that AMC would be bringing back The Killing for a third season after it was originally cancelled by the network last year, but there was never any official announcement from the network or the show’s creators about the situation. Well now in a press release from AMC (via Coming Soon), we finally have details about the upcoming batch of episodes from the polarizing drama.

Production on the show will begin on February 25 in Vancouver, and the season will focus on a new case that will be resolved over the course of 12 episodes. Veena Sud will return as the executive producer, writer, and showrunner, along with actors Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman as well.

In a statement, Sud said, “I couldn’t be happier to know that I will be returning to work with AMC, FTVS and Mireille and Joel on what is and has always been a passion project for me. To the fans that have supported the series, thank you for doing so. My team and I will work hard to deliver the best story that we can for season three.”

There is no premiere date set as of yet, but you can likely expect The Killing to hit screens in either the summer or fall of 2013.
