D.C. will finally join the 21st century, as all taxi cabs will allow credit card sales by the end of March. According to the Washington Post, the D.C. Taxicabs Commission will make sure that each of the city's 6,500 cabs will accept credit card payments in just a few months.

A $35 million contract signed by the city was supposed to force cabs to be fitted with smart meters by the end of November, but only a few were installed before a contract dispute put the project on hold. Cab drivers complained, saying that they should be able to choose the equipment they want instead of being forced to use whatever the city orders them to.

Regardless, the project will be rolled out by the time the season changes.
