Moviegoers looking for easy answers and connected-dots explanations didn't take too kindly to 2011's Martha Marcy May Marlene, a challenging look at the difficulties of leaving a cult. It was also one of the year's best movies. Written and directed by Sean Durkin, the divisive film resisted closure and signaled the arrival of a talented, uncompromising new collective of young Brooklyn-bred filmmakers known as Borderline Films (Durkin, Antonio Campos, and Josh Mond).

Next up for the Borderline crew is Simon Killer (produced by Durkin and Mond), written and directed by Campos (who produced Martha Marcy May Marlene). MMMM co-star Brady Corbet is front and center this time, playing Simon, a troubled American grad student vacationing in Paris after breaking up with his girlfriend. There, he starts a sexual relationship with a promiscuous men's club employee (Mati Diop). It's not a spoiler to say that things don't go well.
