Released last month, the long-awaited big-screen adaptation of Jack Kerouac's classic novel On the Road was, sadly, a dud. A stiff, plodding screenplay stripped the momentum from Kerouac's prose and wasted a few first-class performances (namely Garrett Hedlund's) in the process. The misadventures of the Beats deserves a much more engaging movie. Hopefully that movie is Kill Your Darlings.

Set in 1944, at Columbia University, director/co-writer John Krokidas' film centers on Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe), his newfound companion Lucien Carr (Chronicle's Dane DeHaan), William S. Burroughs (Ben Foster), and Kerouac (Boardwalk Empire star Jack Huston) as they try to start an on-the-page movement in the face of a murder they're all connected to.
