Nintendo's Wii U has no centralized achievements system, which means it's up to individual developers to determine what kind of goals to have in their games. Nintendo itself, for example, asks you to post directly to the Miiverse from New Super Mario Bros. U if you beat a level without taking damage.

Ubisoft's solution has been to port its Uplay infrastructure over to the Wii U, and the Wii U Uplay app is now available for download on the new console.

The Xbox 360, PS3 and PC already feature Uplay, though on other platforms Ubisoft's achievements are mainly there to augment what the systems already offer. On Wii U, Uplay will provide the only achievements for games like ZombiU, Assassin's Creed, Rabbids Land, and more.

The Wii U Uplay app lets you browse achievements as well as downloadable content for Ubisoft games. Unlocking Uplay achievements can even net you some free goodies. So will you be downloading the Wii U Uplay app?
