UDPATE: Dozens Killed in Shooting at Connecticut Elementary School

A gunman opened fire inside an elementary school in Newtown, CT.

According to the Associated Press, there was a shooting inside of a Connecticut elementary school this morning that resulted in 27 deaths, including the gunman.

The New York Times is reporting that the shooter, who was reportedly in his 20s, was the son of a teacher at the school. 

According to the Wall Street Journal, officials at Danbury Hospital said that they have received three patients from the school, but did not disclose any other information regarding the extent of their injuries. One hospital administrator said, at a press conference held hours after the incident, that they did not "anticipate any more patients at this time."

According to NBC News, police have a second person in custody "for a possible connection to the shooting."

Media outlets are continuing to update with more details. 

UPDATE: According to the New York Times, a Connecticut State Police spokesman said that there was "no connection" between the shooter and Sandy Hook Elementary School. Additionally, the Times reports that Lieutenant Vance stated that there were two survivors with wounds in their "lower extremities." 

According to USA Today, there was a lone gunman involved in the shooting.
