The Wii U's 'Panorama View' 360 Video App is Coming Spring 2013

Use the GamePad to watch video in 360 degrees.

Prior to the Wii U's launch, Nintendo was showing off some interesting functionality called "Panorama View" at trade shows and events. Using the Wii U GamePad, viewers could watch panoramic video clips in 360 degrees.

For example, one video takes place on a tour bus driving around London. By moving the GamePad around, you can turn the view of the video left, right and even behind you. It may not sound like much, but it's actually quite impressive.

The Wii U Panorama View app will launch in the spring on the Wii U's eShop, with a "free preview demo" version hitting ahead of the full release. That makes it sound like the full app will cost money, but let's hope that's not the case—despite how cool it is, Panorama View seems to us like more of a tech demo or proof of concept than anything.
