Retro City Rampage

Developer: Vblank Entertainment

Platforms: PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Wii

Release Date: October 9, 2012

Retro City Rampage would have been the best game of all time if it had been released on the Nintendo Entertainment System and while that seems like a reason to hold back the praise for it now, it still deserves every bit of acclaim it's received. Even though it may have been built to the standards of the pre-Clinton era, it's so jam-packed full of content, cameos, and crazy carnage that it's still just as fun today.

Nostalgia aside, the sheer scale of Brian Provinciano's Theftropolis is staggaring. Each of the carefully crafted missions highlights a unique form of level design that shows not only a great knowledge on what makes each genre fun, but also a markedly impressive e of execution and that's no easy feat.

If there's one game that deserves to go back in time, it's undoubtedly Retro City Rampage, but since none of us have access to a flux combobulator enjoying it because we can will just have to do. Five years of love and passion have been injected into this little number and regardless of what platform you wind up playing it on, that fact is always immediately apparent.
