The High Line is one of New York City's coolest spots (per us, of course), and now Queens is closer to getting its own. It will be known as the QueensWay. Last Wednesday, Governor Cuomo elected to give Trust for Public Land, the group behind the project, a $467,000 grant.

The QueensWay would run along what used to be the Rockaway Line of the Long Island Railroad. The project was met with support from residents when it was first proposed last year, mostly because they were interested in seeing additional parkland in Queens.

The Trust is currently searching for private funding, and its also trying to work out a partnership with Major League Soccer. In the meantime, the High Line's final section is due to finally open in 2014.
