Nine Cape Elizabeth High School students were suspended after bringing cookies laced with marijuana to an ethics and values event on Friday. Several students experienced sickness after consuming the edibles, prompting police to investigate the incident, which occurred at Friday's daylong event. Speaker lectured on the school district's guidelines for "Community, Academics, Passion and Ethics (CAPE)."
School policy states that any student who distributes or sells drugs must be suspended for 10 days and face possible expulsion following a school board hearing. Cape Elizabeth schools superintendent Meredith Nadeau said its unclear if the students who ate the cookies were aware that they contained marijuana.
