"Killing Them Softly" Opened to Extremely Disappointing Numbers Last Night

The film isn't expected to make more than $7 million this weekend.

Bad news for new crime drama Killing Them Softly: According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film, which stars Brad Pitt as a mob enforcer, opened to unexpectedly low numbers on Friday, pulling in only $2.5 million - putting it at number six in the box office so far. Early predictions have earnings at about $7 million total this weekend, which is extremely disappointing despite the fact that the film only cost $15 million to make.

That news itself is bad enough, but unfortunately there's more. In addition to low earnings, Killing Them Softly also got slapped with a grade F CinemaScore, becoming only the eighth film to ever receive that low of a rating. This is slightly surprising considering the film got average reviews, but the numbers don't lie.

As for top spots at the box office on Friday, those all went to recent big releases like Breaking Dawn Pt. 2, Skyfall, and Lincoln.

What do you plan on seeing this weekend?
