Here's some hard proof that the release of Google Maps for iOS was a real game changer in the iPhone universe. In just three days after the app was released last week, upgrades to iOS 6 spiked 29 percent.

Many iPhone owners held off from upgrading to the latest version of iOS after the negative reviews of the software's new Apple-made Maps app started pouring in. In all previous versions of iOS, the Maps app was powered by Google.

Mobile ad exchange MoPub noticed the jump in the iOS 6 user base, which is documented in the chart above. Since it's release last Wednesday, the Google Maps app has held firm as the most downloaded app in Apple's App Store.
