Authorities in New Mexico are still puzzled after a handgun and ammunition were discovered inside of a package of frozen ribs at a grocery store in Roswell. On Wednesday, an Albertsons employee opened a case of frozen ribs and found the gun and ammo packed alongside the ribs. According to a police report, the meat came from the Swift Packing Plant in Greeley, CO and is marked with the date June 8, 2011.

Police in Greeley are currently reviewing the case to see if the gun was used in any crimes. Officials say that the the semi-automatic Rock Island Armory .38 Super was not reported stolen, and it could take a few weeks for a firearms trace to return.

Stranger things have (allegedly) been discovered in Roswell.
