Get Your First Look At Smaug The Dragon In This TV Spot From "The Hobbit" (Video)

One of the most memorable characters in The Hobbit novel is Smaug, the dragon that Bilbo and company had to do battle with throughout the book. Though after it was decided that Peter Jackson would turn this one book into a film trilogy, we weren’t sure if Smaug would even appear in the first cinematic installment, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Thankfully, this new TV spot for the film gives us a very brief glimpse at the dragon, who will likely only appear for a short time in An Unexpected Journey. Still, this should set up the events for the next two films and make the wait until 2013 simply unbearable. Keep your eyes peeled for a look at the rampaging dragon in the video above. 

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will hit theaters on December 14.
