FreedomPop is expanding the reach of its services. On top of its USB dongle and portable hotspot offerings, the mobile data provider is now launching a home broadband service—for free.

Just like its mobile wireless service, the startup will provide contract free Internet. All subscribers are required to do is leave a $89 deposit on the FreedomPop Hub Burst home modem, which starts shipping next month.

As for the specifics, FreedomPop is giving users 1GB of free data every month. Subscribers can, however, gain more free data by referring friends to sign up for the service. For individuals who need more than 1GB of data, there are various plan options, which start at $10 a month.

FreedomPop CEO Stephen Stokols discussed the new home broadband expansion with CNET:

According to FreedomPop, the home service is faster than DSL and comparable to many notable cable providers. You can preorder the FreedomPop Hub Burst home modem from the company's website here.
