For the first time in over to years, Fox has picked up a new animated series. According to Deadline, the network has given a 13-episode order to Murder Police, a comedy hailing from former Family Guy executive producer David Goodman and animator Jason Ruiz. The show will reportedly focus on "a dedicated but inept detective" in a "twisted" city precinct, and his colleagues, who range from perverted to corrupt to lazy.

"David and Jason came to us with a really fresh take on law enforcement that we’ve never seen before," Fox’s entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said of the series. "With Murder Police, these guys are taking a staple genre of television — the cop show– and turning it on its head by pushing the warped comedic boundaries that only animation can offer."

The series is set to premiere next season, and will feature the voices of Ruiz, Will Sasso, Chi McBride, Horatio SanzPenny Marshall, Peter Atencio, and Justina Machado.
